I really need to add

I really need to add a text search to this page. Half the time I can't figure out if I've already posted something and I end up looking through multiple pages of archives. It's a pain. I'm sure my readers could use it too....

Surgery (Update)

Alright, I've talked about my pending surgery before, so I thought I'd give y'all the latest info: it isn't happening this summer. Due to things completely out of my hands, there's no way that I would have enough recovery time before school starts, so the surgery has to be postponed.

I found out that we've had insurance authorization for a while now, it's just that the surgeon was dragging his feet because his assistant still didn't have his certification at the hospital the surgery would be at. My Dad got incredibly mad about this, confronted the surgeon, and got merely a shrug from him. Now, we're looking for another surgeon. Go figure.

In other words, I've spent this summer without a job for no reason. While this doesn't bother me much, it might become a problem because I (presumably) won't have a job next summer when I should be having the surgery. The plot thickens.

All in all, this doesn't bother me much. I've had a pretty relaxed summer, learned a lot about myself, strengthened some friendships, and had a pretty good time. I have lots to do yet this summer (including getting the new version of my web site up and running...) and I don't have much time left. We'll have to see if I can get rid of my procrastination bug.

My step-brother is an ensign

My step-brother is an ensign in the Navy. This morning, he was given the duty of searching for someone that was AWOL. He called just to say he was PI for a day. So simple are his pleasures.

Woohoo! I just got an invitation to a really cool thing which I can't tell anyone about! I'm extremely excited, and thus frustrated because I can't tell anyone about it! Woohoo!

A friend recently encouraged me

A friend recently encouraged me by saying that God won't waste [my] pain. She suggested that I use the pain that I'm experiencing to draw closer to Christ and understand more of who he died for and what that sacrifice and pain meant. She also reminded me that the more [I] experience pain, the more [I] will be able to appreciate true love. She continued by saying, Jesus suffered the ultimate sacrifice: all the pain in the world. Therefore, He must be the essence of love.

What a heart-warming and powerful lesson. It's so easy to wallow in pain and convince ourselves that no one can understand what we're going through (I'm speaking from personal experience). Yet, Christ suffered more pain than we can ever imagine... and He did it for us. He understands and He is our ally in dealing with pain and finding joy again.
