Every once in a while, I'll pull a practical joke. These usually end up hurting someone's feelings and betraying someone's trust in me. This happened today (well, Wednesday, anyway). I end up feeling horrible and apologizing, but I can see in their eyes that they're just so hurt. You would figure I'd learn.
I'm genuinely sorry. I think that's something that people aren't used to these days. People also have an odd idea of forgiveness. Forgive and forget go hand-in-hand. Most of the time, people only remember the former.
I'm somewhat of a student of forgiveness, mostly because I seem to need a lot of it due to past actions. It's a really cool concept when practiced correctly. It's really too difficult to get into here, but forgiveness basically entails forgiving a person of a wrong doing and not holding it against them (forgetting it) in the future.
Forgiveness is my friend.
