It took me a while to figure out how to refer to Sept. 11th. Finally, I chose tragedy.
However, after a recent conversation with my Aunt Marge, it hardly seems appropriate to refer to it as a tragedy.
Many people have been using act of terrorism,
but that doesn't suit me. Someone even went as fair as to name Sept. 11th Hubert
(I warn you, you won't think of anyone named Hubert the same after reading that piece) in a search for the right term, much like this.
The word suggested by my aunt, which I've now adopted, is massacre. The people in the World Trade Center were helpless, unresisting targets. The willingness of anyone to partake in this massacre still defies comprehension. God have mercy on their souls.
