I think I know why so many students hate
school. There's this phenomenon that occurs when your professor asks you for your homework (the homework you forgot to do because you didn't write it down, the homework you stayed up half the night trying to finish, the homework you considered doing, but decided not to in favor of doing something else more entertaining). It's this disheartening blow to your pride. It's a sinking feeling that mirrors your hopes of getting a good grade in the class.
See, sometimes students fall so far behind that it's just depressing going to class and having your professor ask you for homework you know you don't have. So, instead of working diligently to get back up to speed, students skip more classes and fall farther and farther behind. It's this whole downward spiral effect. It's quite disheartening.
It's also really hard to get out of the greedy grips of the downward spiral. I'm working on doing that this week.
