So, Saturday night, I saw the greatest show in the sky: the Leonid meteor shower. I drove myself and a couple of friends up to the Peaks of Otter at about 3:30 on Sunday morning. After the trip, we enjoyed about an hour of meteors, probably one every five or six seconds. They came from all directions in the sky, short bursts of white light that sometimes left tails. It was absolutely beautiful.
NASA kindly posted some images from around the world of the meteor shower on their web site. One of the best shots, in my opinion, is a fifteen minute exposure from Australia.
