Mike and I went out

Mike and I went out to lunch at the mall today to talk about some issues I have / had with him and Trina dating. We didn't really talk about anything of depth, but it was a good conversation still.

We both had 1pm classes and not wanting to freak out our professors by arriving to class on time, we got back to campus right when our classes started. I dropped off Mike behind our dorm so I could look for a parking spot without making him even more late. Unable to find a parking space, I parked in the fire lane, turned on my flashers, and ran up to my room to get my books. After dropping off my coat, I darted out the front door and went directly to class.

I arrived about ten minutes late, just in time for everyone to tell me that I missed a Feel Good quiz--a free grade for showing up to class on time. I pleaded with my professor, Jaimee, to allow me to take the quiz. After receiving a firm no, I climbed the flight of stairs to the third floor Hopwood computer lab to work on the current class assignment--designing a restaurant, focusing especially on creating a appetizing, unique, and varied menu. Pete, one of my group partners, got to work on the menu and I began surfing the Internet.

A couple of minutes later, Jaimee came in to use a computer and make sure we were working diligently. Jaimee, I think I have a valid excuse for being late, I said. I was having a really important conversation with a friend.

Tim, I have plenty of important conversations with friends, but I'm always on time to class. I'm sorry, but you missed your chance.

It's not like I want to be late to class. (beat) In fact, in my rush to get here, I left my car parked behind Tate..., I said, already running out the door.

As I went into my dorm before, I was really frustrated because I almost always find a parking spot. Well, I figured that there was some reason why God didn't want me to find a parking space, so I went inside to get my books and didn't worry about it. Fifty minutes into class and half-way through a conversation with Jaimee, I remembered that I left my car behind Tate. After a quick jog across campus, I found Belle just where I left her, thankfully without a parking ticket. I quickly manuevered Belle into the Pit, found a parking space, and caught my breath on the way back to class.

I sat down at my lab computer and Jaimee looked at me and softly said, Tim, you can take the quiz.

Thanks, Jaimee, I sighed.

I was just telling God last night that I'd be grateful if He could help me increase my trust in Him. It's really the simple things like this that make God so cool.

Talk about a blast from

Talk about a blast from the past; I got an e-mail from a girl I dated my senior year of high school (1997-1998) tonight. I might hang out with her over break. I've been meaning to get in touch with her for a while now. I think I have some explaining to do to her and I'm just such a different person from who I was. It'll be nice to catch up.

Ring Around the Moon...

Tonight, there was a gigantic rainbow halo around the moon. I did my best to take a picture of it--err, actually I took ten pictures of it, but I doubt any will come out. Fortunately, someone with a lot more skill and much better equipment managed to capture a similar moon halo in San Sebastian, Spain in March 2000.

According to the NASA site where the picture is hosted, this phenomenon occurs when high thin clouds containing millions of tiny ice crystals cover much of the sky. Each ice crystal acts like a miniature lens. Because most of the crystals have a similar elongated hexagonal shape, light entering one crystal face and exiting through the opposing face refracts 22 degrees, which corresponds to the radius of the Moon Halo. A similar Sun Halo may be visible during the day.

Woohoo! I figured out how

Woohoo! I figured out how to get something working in ASP so that I don't have to use Javascript on my page anymore. Now everything is written server-side. I'm totally psyched. So, what does this mean, anyway? My page actually validates now. Woohoo! Server-side scripting is my friend.
