When I came home last Friday, I found that we had new linoleum flooring in our kitchen. Allegedly, while my step-mom was away a couple of weeks ago, my father got sick. He got up one morning to let the dog out and decided to make himself some eggs, so he put some water on the stove to boil. After letting the dog in, he completely forgot about the pot on the stove and fell asleep upstairs.
He was later rudely woken by the fire alarm whining about something amiss. Running downstairs, he was greeted by our living room filled with smoke. Remembering the pot on the stove, he ran into the kitchen. All the water had evaporated, leaving an empty pot on a hot stove. He grabbed the pot and took it directly to the sink. Unfortunately, the pot had melted while it was cooking on the stove and parts of it slopped to the floor between the stove and the sink. Luckily, no one was hurt throughout this ordeal, save the pot and the floor.
And that, my friends, is why we have a new floor in out kitchen. At least, that's how the story goes....
