To Register or Not to Register

I've been flirting with the idea of getting my own domain. Instead of taking the plunge, I'm going to let the idea simmer a bit longer. First off, I have enough unfinished projects. I don't need more. Second, I don't really have the money. Third, I'd like to find the right host and registrar for me, which looks like a lot of work. There are a lot of horror stories with registrars and I'd rather not be a victim. So, this idea gets pushed to the back burner. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing other things soon.

Mozilla Reaches Its Target (and other browser news)

After roughly four years of development, Mozilla 1.0 has been released. I'd expect Netscape 7--currently at Preview Release 1--to be released soon.

In other browser news, the Opera browser has suffered its second security vulnerability, though the vulnerability announcement was accompanied with the release of Opera 6.03 for Windows, which includes a fix for the vulnerability.

And in yet more Opera news, a release candidate of Opera 6.04 for Windows was announced today in the opera.beta newsgroup. The release fixes a crash in Opera 6.03 related to saving web pages, a long-standing issue printing headers and footers, and another issue causing truncation when saving pages with images.

I'm horrible at baseball. This

I'm horrible at baseball. This past year, I started playing catch with a couple of friends at school. Luckily, no one has been hit by a stray ball yet. This afternoon, I stopped by a batting cage. It's been about five years since I've swung a bat, so I wasn't sure how I'd do. I gave myself the benefit of the doubt and started with medium pitch. I struck out nine times. I asked a worker to adjust the pitch height. Again, I struck out nine times.

I'm not a quitter. I was determined to connect the bat with some baseballs. So, I spit out my pride (that stuff isn't good for you) and went to slow pitch. Finally, I was able to hit some balls. Nine line drives, five fly balls, ten foul balls, eight grounders, and a blister later, I happily exited the batting cage, wished the middle schooler in the medium pitch cage luck, and left.

Mark my words: I will conquer medium pitch, oh yes, I will conquer medium pitch.
