I want an iPod. I want one so badly that I've taken a plunge off the deep end and signed up at FreeiPods.com to get a free iPod. That's right; a free iPod.
FreeiPods.com is a company that gets people to try offers from their affiliates. I sign up for an offer and refer five friends that do the same and I get an iPod. There are a variety of offers to choose from: a credit card, a CD or DVD club, a trial with Blockbuster.com, etc. I did the free trial with Blockbuster.com. It's a good way to get free movies, so why not?
And you've probably realized the reason I'm posting this is that I want y'all to help me get my iPod by signing up for an offer at FreeiPods.com. Don't think it's legit? Check out this recent Wired.com article. I guess I'll see for myself once things get rolling. They have received some criticism, but also praise. It's worth the trouble to me. Is it worth it for you?
If you'd like to help (and you're a US resident), please click this link to FreeiPods.com (or any of the other ones in this post) to register my referrer ID and sign up for an offer. Google has some more interesting reads, if you want more information. Thanks.
NOTE: If you are going to help me (thanks!), please use a throw-away mail account. I've been getting spam at the e-mail address I used (and I haven't used it for anything else). I have a couple Gmail invites left, though I've read they aren't accepted.

I wanted to help, but....
I just didn't care for any of the offers. But I really do want to help you get your iPod, really, really, I do. So if the offers change, or improve, or perhaps, become less Viacom-focused (evil, awful, corporate meanies!), let me know, and I'll check them out. Because I really do want you to be happy and to look cool over in the Netherlands, sporting your cool new musical toy.
In an unrelated topic, how do you make the jawdrop smiley? That's pretty cool, but you give no instructions for the less technologically intuitive of us.
Re: Smilies
Typing the code listed next to the smiley should work. So, "".
Re: Re: Smilies
Ah, yes, of course. And that's what I meant by the "less technologically intuitive" of us - I didn't get that the none symbol-eyness was code. But now I do. Thanks!
aiding and abetting geeks
unfortunately for you, i am jaded by my mother's overzealousness for geek toys, so i, unlike your obviously loving sister, don't really want to help you get more gadgets that you can play with on the beach. sorry. kinda.
no, i don't hold grudges... whatever do you mean?

Ipods and Drupal
Hi Tim,
I am cruising Drupal sites and came to yours.
First, I too would love an IPOD but can't afford it. I haven't gone the freebiee route yet! I never win anything. I hope you get one though.
On another note, I'm thinking of implementing Drupal. What do you think of it? Is it fairly easy to implement?
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Ipods and Drupal
Hey Ed,
It's been a while since I installed Drupal, but if I remember correctly, it was fairly easy. They're about to release 4.5.0, so you might want to wait until then. It has some nice enhancements and performance improvements.
The community is fairly supportive and has a good leadership to it. I'm very pleased with my choice and have started learning PHP so I can contribute to the project.
Good luck, whatever you choose. :)
